Twelve education officials from China spent the day at the Emerson School of Hospitality and Makowski School #99 to learn more about academic programs and initiatives taking place in classrooms across the District.
The Chinese education officials observed a Mandarin Chinese instruction at Makowski School and learned about their International Baccalaureate Program.
This new global educational partnership between the Buffalo Public School District and schools in China will result in the exchange of students, teachers, administrators, and programs.
There will be three important components in the new exchange program between Buffalo Schools and schools in China. They are:
1. Exchange of students 2. Exchange of teachers, principals, and administrators 3. Exchange of ideas and programs
“We live in a rapidly changing and challenging global economy and it is critical for students to learn about numerous cultures, economies, and climates beyond the borders of Buffalo,” said Buffalo Public Schools Superintendent Dr. James A. Williams.
Also joining the partnership and new exchange will be Binghamton City School District and the University at Buffalo.
“The University at Buffalo is committed to supporting the Buffalo Public School District, and we have a host of resources related to Asian studies, so we look forward to engaging students and faculty in this exciting project,” said Dr. Mara Huber Special Assistant to the President for Educational Initiatives and Director of B.P.S./U.B. Partnership.
This was the second visit from a Chinese delegation to the Buffalo Public School District.
