STUDENT SHOWCASE

THE KING OF AFRICA
by Issa Abdullahi - 8th grade

Chapter 1

Once upon a time there was a village that had a king named Ibrahim Abdi. He was born in 1988. At this time he is 16 years old.

His father, Issa Abdi was the king of the village. Another king wanted to take over the village. Issa Abdi went to fight the other king. He was fighting for freedom. His wife tried to stop him from fighting the war.  Issa told his wife he was protecting the village. He was really angry and he fought for his land, wife and children until his death. He protected his family to keep them safe and his children were safe. After he saved his children, Issa died. His village was safe and his children were safe, too. The people of the village were crying for their King. His children were crying, too. The wife was crying for her husband.

Ibrahim Abdi’s village was safe, but the bad King came to the village to talk to Issa Abdi’s Queen. The Queen said,”What do you want here?” The bad King said he wanted to take over the village and make the people his slaves. Ibrahim said, “I will fight for this village. You are an evil person. My father left me to be the King of the people in this village and they are happy that I am the second King. I promised my father that I would not give up my village. I will make you surrender before I will allow a war of killing each other for no reason and taking something that is not yours. The people of the village are very happy, so don’t take their happiness away.” Ibrahim killed the bad King. Now the other village was free, also. The people went to say thank you to Ibrahim. He told them they could stay in his village.

After 8 years, Ibrahim married a girl. He had one child named Hamadi Issa. The people of the village were very happy for their village.

The people loved and remembered King Issa very much. Some of them went to pray at his grave. After Ibrahim visited his father’s grave, he went back to his mother. “I will protect my father’s family and the village, too.”

Chapter 2

Ibrahim’s sister Futuma was born in 1990. At this time she is 18 years old. She looked for a good man to marry. Michael was her boyfriend.

Mother was very sick. She told Ibrahim and Futuma to take care of themselves. Futuma got married. After 10 days the Mother died. King Ibrahim, once again promised the village he would protect his people. Fatuma became Queen Sister. They had wealth and power. They had herds of cows that were paraded in front of visitors.
