Dear Parent/Guardian,
This school year started off very well. The students have been encouraged since Day 1 to strive for excellence. They are constantly told that they can be, and do anything they put their minds to. We do this because administration, faculty and staff truly believe in the capabilities of each child attending School 18. We remind them every morning that they are the "best and the brightest".
Our staff and faculty views each child as an individual with unique strengths and weaknesses. Our goal is to work with your child to enhance his/her strengths, as well as build skills to overcome weak areas.
One of the things we are most grateful for this Thanksgiving season is the fact that you as parents and guardians have placed the most valuable person in your life (your child) in our care. We take this trust very personally and treat each child with respect and dignity.
Academics is the focus of any educational program, but we also realize the importance of building character, and understanding the value of behaving in socially appropriate ways.
Every month we spotlight a particular character trait (i.e. respect, responsibility, and citizenship). Students are explicitly taught what it means to portray that trait.
We would appreciate it if you would help your child learn more about these traits. You might consider asking questions such as:
- What country are you a citizen of?
- What state are you a citizen of?
- What makes you a good citizen?
Sincerely,
Valarie Kent
Principal
