“Putting Children and Families First to Ensure High Academic Achievement for All”

The school year is in full swing and we are very busy.  The "Meet the Teacher Night" on October 29th was most successful.  The Reading team set out a display with information and graciously gave many wonderful books away to our school families.  There was a raffle as well!!  Thank you for attending this fun and informative night.

The PBS (Positive Behavior System) Team is working to implement our schoolwide rules:  Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Ready to Learn.  Our students have been learning songs in Music class under the direction of Mr. Salzman to support our character education schoolwide.  The students are eager to sing for you and will have the opportunity at the upcoming Awards Assemblies (preK - Grade 2)

The Holiday Season is fast approaching and with it comes many activities and events.  The students in fourth grade will be attending a concert by the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra at Kleinhan's Music Hall on November 17th.  Also please watch for notices regarding an Awards Assembly for PreKindergarten, Kindergarten, Grades 1 & 2 on November 25th.  In December, we look forward to our Holiday Concert and the Parent-Child Holiday Craft and Fun Fair.  Hope to see everyone!

This is the time of the year that we especially reflect on peace, giving and joy.  As part of our character education, the character trait of the month of December is Caring.  Teachers and staff are helping students learn to demonstrate caring and kindness and engage in thoughtful behavior.  So as part of the holiday season, we are all reminded to exercise caring, and encourage our children to be sensitive to other's feelings, learn to compliment others, look for ways to help other people, and learn about compassion.  Please help your child identify ways that he or she can show care and concern for another person or group of people.

On behalf of the entire E.C.C. #61 school family, we wish you and happy and joyous holiday season.

                                    Thank you for your support.

Mrs. Laura M. Harris, Mrs. Carol A. Bracken
