Multilingual education includes bilingual, English as a second language (ESL), and foreign language instruction.  Daily small group lessons are expected at every grade level. Small group instruction provides opportunities for students to apply the skills they learn and for teachers

to re-teach skills as needed.

The instructional guides outline whole group and small group instruction modules that guide teachers in developing integrated lessons in listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in English and in other languages.  A cultural component is also addressed in the standards for these areas.
