What do we do?
Working year-round to secure supplemental funding in support of educational programs for Buffalo City School District students, the Office of Federal and State Programs:
- Develops Grant Program Narratives & Budgets
- Develops Program & Budget Amendments
- Assists with Grant Coordination, Management & Implementation
- Researches & Identifies Funding Opportunities
- Oversees Implementation of Title I Funded Services
- Plans, Develops, and Oversees the Implementation of the Summer Extended Learning Opportunities Program and other special district initiatives
Grant funding sources & contributors:
The Office of Federal and State Programs is the liaison office between the District and grant funding sources. District grant funds come from a variety of sources including:
- New York State Education Department
- United States Department of Education
- Foundations
- Businesses

The Office of Federal and State Programs secures an average of $110 million in grant funding annually. These funds provide vital support to our students District-wide. Grants help to provide:
- Academic programs
- Staff
- Supplemental education services
- Classroom supplies
- Books/library materials
- Technology supplies
- After school programs
- Professional development
- Parent involvement activities, including the Howard Lewis Parent Center
