Houghton Academy Highlights
Standardized Test Scores
- We are a school "In Good Standing" as determined by our state test scores in ELA and MATH
- NYS Grade 4 ELA Test - 68% passed in 2006-2007
- NYS Grade 8 Math Test - we were above the district average in our Math scores in 2006-2007
Programs
Our auxiliary programs help us reach our primary goal of HIGH ACHIEVEMENT:
- A NEWLY renovated building
- Grade levels offered (Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 8)
- Reduced class size in Grades 1 through 5
- Single sex classrooms in Grades 7 and 8
- District Reading and Math programs (PK - 8)
- Student skills program through our Homework Agendas
- After school tutoring by teachers and college students
- Responsible Males, Circle of Friends and Baby Think It Over Programs for Junior High students
- Recognition programs
- Parent Workshops
- ELA/Math Summer School program
- Each student required to read 25 books per school year
