The Buffalo School Library System is a cooperative library agency funded by New York State. Our contact with the State Education Department is through the New York State Library. Our office is located at the Buffalo Professional Development and Technology Center (BPDTC), 150 Lower Terrance, Room 448, Buffalo NY 14204.
Our purpose is defined by NY State Regulations. We operate under a Plan of Service, Member Plan, and Bylaws. An 18-member Council insures implementation of the Plan of Service, and adheres to the Buffalo School Library System's Vision and Mission.
Our major goal is resource-sharing, including activities such as interlibrary loan, maintaining a union catalog, and cooperative collection development. We also assist our members to attain NOVELny status by offering information, training, and providing equipment and Internet-access grants.
Our organization is member of the Western New York Library Resources Council. Our membership is comprised of all of the Buffalo Public Schools and all of the non-public schools in the City of Buffalo which meet minimum standards for a school library.
