Dear Parents/Guardians,

This letter marks are the first time we are utilizing e-mail to send the monthly letter to parents. A large number of parents submitted their e-mail addresses to us on Back-to-School Night and a list serve was compiled for each Olmsted site as well as for each grade level and homeroom. Those parents who have not yet submitted a copy of their e-mail address can still do so. For those parents not having e-mail, hard copies of this letter will be available in the school office as well as posted on the school website. A Connect-Ed telephone call will be made tonight to let parents know this new procedure is being initiated. Parents were informed we would be doing this at the start of the school year.

Both Olmsted sites took part in the Heavenly Hats Project which raises funds for the Heavenly Hats Foundation which donates brand new hats for cancer patients of all ages nationwide.  Since its inception, the founder of Heavenly Hats, Anthony Leanna, has been able to donate over 450,000  new hats to patients and hospitals in need. The average cost to ship one box of hats to one individual is about $7.50 and the cost to ship a box of hats to a hospital is about $30.00. Olmsted 64 raised $539.00 and the OMHS raised 459.00.  I would like to thank all of the students who worked so hard on this project and thank you to Mrs. Barone and Mrs. Tomei for acting as faculty facilitators.

The Halloween Parade at Olmsted 64 was great. Thank you to all parents who came to watch the parade as well as assist teachers with preparing students and helping out at classroom parties.

The Olmsted Foundation is sponsoring the Party at Olmsted on Friday November 13th from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. Tickets are now on sale for $15.00 per person and $20.00 per couple. See the attached flyer for more information.

It’s hard to believe but the first marking period ends on Friday November 13th.  Report cards for students in grades 3-10 will be mailed home. Students in grades K-2 will bring their report cards home.
