Pfc. William J. Grabiarz School of Excellence is named after Pfc. William J. Grabiarz.
Private First Class Grabiarz was awarded a Congressional Medal of Honor for his heroism in sacrificing his own life for the life of his Army Captain in 1945. Grabiarz was born in the Black Rock - Riverside Area of Buffalo, New York.
School #79 is the first school in the nation to be named after a Congressional Medal of Honoree.
