WELCOME TO KINDERGARTEN!
Each month we discuss a character trait and this month our School #81 community is discussing KINDNESS. We are learning about and practicing having respect and treating each other with kindness.
HOMEWORK:
Please help your child with the nightly homework that is in the Homework Notebook. The homework activities will help your child learn to read. The notebook should come to school each day.
BOOK BAGGIES:
We will be sending home the decodable books each week. We have provided a BOOK BAGGIE so that your child can keep the books together all year. Please read these books with your child. The books contain the high frequency words that are taught from our Reading Series. The children are tested on these words. Read and re-read them.
MATH:
We are learning with pattern blocks, color tiles, snap cubes and geo blocks. Talk to your child about the things we are learning in math. Please have your child practice counting objects at home. It would be good if he/she could touch each object and move it while counting.
DIBELS:
All kindergartners are being tested using DIBELS. This test will be administered at the beginning, middle and end of the school year. You will receive more information about the DIBELS in the coming months.
TYING SNEAKERS/SHOES:
Please have your child practice tying at home
