Science is a system of acquiring knowledge using observation and experimentation to describe the world around us.

Vision Statement:

Student-centered classrooms will incorporate issues and processes to prepare learners for a global society.
    -Inquiry-based learning is a vehicle through which students become scientifically literate, honing literacy and numeracy skills. 
    -Scientific attitudes, such as curiosity, respect for evidence, critical reflection, flexibility and respect for the environment, empower students and foster learning.

Mission Statement:

To create a district-wide learning community, to support literacy through high academic achievement of the science learning standards.

City Honors School Student Earns Prestigious Scholarship

On March 27, 2009, 47 students from across upstate New York competed in the Tri Region Science and Engineering Fair (TRSEF) in Syracuse. Jimmitti Teysir, a student from City Honors School, was selected for a Grand Award. The Grand Award includes representing the 27 counties served by TRSEF at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Reno, Nevada, May 10th-15th.

The BPS Science Department is privileged to let you know that Deloris Anderson, 6th grade teacher at Campus West was awarded as the Western New York 2008/2009  K-8 Science Educator of the Year by STANYS (Science Teachers Association New York State).
