ADVISORY Advisory (also known as Student Support Services) is an integral piece of the educational plan we offer students at Math, Science and Technology Prep. Advisory is a non-credit class that fosters positive relationship building between a small group of students and an adult advisor. The advisor helps build positive relationships among students, tracks grades, acts as a liaison between the students, teacher, and parent, and the advisor encourages academic and personal student success. Advisory offers students an opportunity to connect to a peer group. We focus on many different activities and lessons in advisory, as well as, offer students a place to discuss interpersonal issues and concerns. An integral component of advisory is our “Character Trait of the Month” program. We ask students to nominate one another for character trait of the month recognition. Each month we focus on a different character trait that exemplifies the behavior we expect from our MST students. Students receive school supplies or gift cards, depending on the month. A very special “thank you” goes out to Mrs. Finn and her family for their generous support of this program.
