Waterfront Elementary School #95

Mission Statement
Our goal is to educate each child to his/her fullest potential as a self-directed, self-motivated learner. We will integrate the arts and academics in grades Pre-K through 8, and maintain high standards of behavior and achievement in a child-centered, open space environment

Our Beliefs
We believe that:
  • To be a life-long learner, students need to be successful problem solvers.
  • Visual and performing arts and curricular areas should be mutually integrated beginning with the very young and continue through life.
  • Effective and oral communication is needed for students to interact successfully in society.
  • Differentiation of educational activities and experiences as well as integration of technology is necessary to facilitate development of successful life-long learners.
  • Professional development is a necessary component to ensure academic success.

Our History: 25 Years Of Success
Waterfront was the first Pre-K to grade 8 magnet school in the City of Buffalo. It was created to promote understanding and tolerance among its diverse ethnic, racial and religious groups. This diverse environment has provided a high quality educational experience for all students. Waterfront has a proud tradition of success! For more than 20 years, Waterfront has been a Professional Development School (PDS) in partnership with Buffalo State College. This program has successfully trained pre-service teachers by exposing them to authentic urban classroom settings.
