In the Buffalo Public Schools [BPS], curriculum is based on a response to four essential questions. These are:

  • What do we want a student to know and be able to do?
  • How will we know if s/he’s learned it?
  • What will we do if s/he hasn’t learned it?
  • What will we do if s/he has?

BPS Curriculum Framework was developed by the District in order to address these questions.


BPS Curriculum Framework is designed to ensure that every teacher understands and is committed to the essential knowledge and skills students must know and be able to do to be successful in school.


BPS Curriculum Framework is driven by the the four Cornerstone Documents: the Academic Achievement Plan [AAP] and Addendum, which outline the District’s goals, The Literacy across the Curriculum White Paper, and The Challenge: Building a 21st Century School District White Paper.
