Waterfront Elementary Student Uniforms 2008

The results of the vote on mandatory uniforms at Waterfront
School beginning in September, 2008 have been tabulated by the Waterfront School Association (WSA). The results were overwhelmingly in favor of mandatory uniforms. Therefore, beginning in September, 2008, students will be required to dress according to the following guidelines: (see the Letter to Parents and Guardians at the bottom of this page).

Sports Night at South Park
South Park High School held it first annual sports night banquet on May 8, at Lucarelli’s Restaurant and Banquet facility on Abbott Road in Lackawanna. The PTO, through the coordination of Mrs. Jean Marie Dickey, Mrs. Buttino, and the team coaches, sponsored this event to honor this year’s Spark Athletes with a celebration of their fine effort and determination.

Important Public Meeting Monday Night: Contract For Excellence
The Buffalo Public School District is holding a Public Hearing on the District’s 2008-2009 “Contract For Excellence” Plan.
The Contract For Excellence is a requirement for districts receiving an increase in New York State aid for the 2008-2009 school year, and who have at least one school determined to be in need of improvement under the No Child Left Behind legislation. The contract requires that the new funds be spent in accordance with allowable programs.

The New York State Education Department recognized six Buffalo Public Schools for academic excellence and was named “High Performing” and “Rapidly Improving” schools. Buffalo Public School #81 has been recognized as a “Rapidly Improving” school while Discovery School #67, Frederick Law Olmsted School #64, Leonardo da Vinci High School, Hutchinson Central Technical High School, and City Honors School have been recognized as “High Performing” schools.
