A Message From the Chief Academic Officer of the Buffalo Public Schools
The District has, as its stated vision In the Three Year Academic Achievement Plan, the aim to ensure high academic achievement for all students. In order to do that, a firm foundation must be established, in every subject area, grounded in an evidentiary base of scientific research that supports those practices that will attain the standards established by the state, and that will result in improved student academic performance. In line with this vision, the District established three other goals which include a focus on: (2) professional growth to support teacher effectiveness in implementing those programs that will improve student achievement; (3) efficient and effective support operations to ensure that teachers get what they need in order to provide effective instruction, on-going monitoring of student progress and intervention to improve student academic performance, and (4) equity, making sure that all students have equal access to the curriculum and to instruction that is differentiated appropriately to meet their academic needs. The District recognizes that in order for these goals to be achieved, there must be an underlying system of schools that maintain safe and orderly environments supported by a community deeply involved in the success of our children from a base of collaboration and cooperation with the District.
