WELCOME to my Instructional Technology (iTech) web site. I am the Technology Integration Specialist (TIS) at School #37 Futures Academy. Be sure to check out my blog regularly throughout the year.
My primary role as a building TIS is to provide technical assistance and professional development to teachers developing and delivering technology infused instruction.
| THE featured content will focus on the latest changes I have made to the site. This might include new services, features, or tutorials. This homepage currently displays a number of newer web technologies. Below my schedule is a web widget (widget) pulling the latest news items from the BPS Instructional Technology Resource Site (iTech) in the form of an RSS feed. Just below the iTech News widget is another widget that is pulling content from the latest postings to Mr. C's Class Blog (web log or blog). Both widgets were created and can be modified as needed through a service called Widgetbox. Below this text is an introduction and demonstration of the Snap Shots feature and the Educational CyberPlayground RSS feed widget.

Introducing AnswerTips from Answers.com
ANSWERTIPS from Answers.com adds another dynamic content element to my web site. AnswerTips works by adding a script written in html code. It's not that difficult to do. I visited Answers.com to "build" the script. Then I copied, and pasted the script into the web site, making the site AnswerTips enabled. By double-clicking any word on pages with the AnswerTips logo (above) will trigger a small information bubble defining the word. In addition may contain information from some of these sources: thesaurus, antonyms, word tutor, quotes about, wikipedia , misspellings, translations, and best of web to name a few. Introducing Snap Shots from Snap.com I just installed a nice little tool on this site called Snap Shots that enhances links with visual previews of the destination site, interactive excerpts of Wikipedia articles, MySpace profiles, IMDb profiles and Amazon products, display inline videos, , MP3s, photos, stock charts and more. Sometimes Snap Shots bring you the information you need, without your having to leave the site, while other times it lets you "look ahead," before deciding if you want to follow a link or not. Should you decide this is not for you, just click the Options icon in the upper right corner of the Snap Shot and opt-out. strong>THIS is an example of an Amazon product page for a book that I highly recommend. Mouse over the icon to the right of the books title for a preview. The excellent book entitled The Non-Designer's Web Book written by Robin Williams. |
