Current Events
Current Event Discussion Board

*Extra Credit (for now)

The Idea I think current events are important. I think they make you an informed citizen and give you a better ability to make sense out of the past. My idea is to provide you with an opportunity to share your ideas and thoughts on certain articles/videos/news stories.

The TimeFRAME I will post the initial idea/question, there will always be an attached piece of news (articles/editorials/polls /cartoons/videos). I will have this post ready on a MONDAY. Your first post/reaction should be posted by FRIDAY. I will at times, respond back to you over the weekend, if I do you MUST respond by the following FRIDAY to receive credit.

The POINTS Depending on the length, accuracy, analysis and insight in your post (and if asked, response) you MAY receive one of four grades. 100/100 Borders on brilliant. 75/75 Very strong, good original insight. 50/50 Post illustrates that you understood the story and responded in a direct way. 25/25 Evidence article/story was truly read/watched.

Who should do this?

Any U.S. History student of Mr. Hughes. ESPECIALLY if you think you may want to take AP American Government next year.

*If you fail to respond to my question I will may not award you a grade, no matter how great your post. I also reserve the right to reject posts which I feel were done without merit or copied.
