Time to CELEBRATE the 2011/2012 school year.  Hi my name is Lori Cilano, and I am Bennett Park Montessori's High School Ahead school counselor.  I am so excited to be returning once again this school year and getting reacquainted with all of our students.

What is a School Counselor's Role?

The School Counselor takes a proactive approach to assist students in many areas such as:  academic difficulties, behavioral issues, conflict resolution, bully prevention, social skills, transitional periods, problems outside of school, career exploration, and high school planning. 

The American School Counselor Association (ASCA) supports school counselors' efforts to help students focus on academic, personal/social and career development so they achieve success in school and are prepared to lead fulfilling lives as responsible members of society.
