  •  MR. FRITZ - English 7 & 8

    Hello Students and Parents,

My name is Mr. Fritz, and I am the middle school ELA teacher here at D’Youville Porter. I am looking forward to my 15th year of teaching.  For thirteen of those years I have been teaching middle school. I have taught in private, charter, and public school settings and I am thrilled to be here!

I want to provide you with some basic information about my expectations and what you can do to get the most out of our time together.

SUPPLIES YOU WILL NEED FOR CLASS EVERY DAY:

§    A 3 Ring Binder divided into the following sections: Class Notes, Class Work, Homework, Completed Reading Journals, and Corrected Quizzes and Tests. The binder should be filled with lined notebook paper.

§    Two Pens with blue or black ink.  Please do not use other colors for your work in this class.  I will deduct points from assignments that are completed in colors other than blue or black. (You should come to class every day with TWO pens, so if one runs out you’ll have a back up.)

§    A desire to leave the classroom smarter than when you entered it.

HOW YOUR GRADES WILL BE CALCULATED

While there may be some minor adjustments to the weighting of the categories in each quarter, your grades will be determined by your performance in the following categories:

§    Assessments: quizzes and tests 35%

    §    Classwork/Homework 30%

    §    Projects/Major Assignments 15%

§    Class Participation (Coming to class prepared and being positively involved) 20%
