Mrs. McMillen and Mrs. Prescott - Kindergarten
-
Dear Families,
Welcome to Kindergarten! We are so excited to begin a brand new school year and we hope that your family is too! We are going to have an exciting and busy year filled with many activities!
We are so glad that your child will be a part of our class! Your child is going to be in an Integrated Co-Teaching classroom. This means that they will be in a classroom with two teachers Mrs. Prescott and Mrs. McMillen. It is very important to us that we keep the lines of communication open. Please do not hesitate to contact either one of us via phone call (816-3403), note in your child’s red folder or email. Also, there will be times when we need parent volunteers to come in and help out, so please let us know if you are available.
As we embark on this new and exciting journey, we encourage you to join our PTO. Parents who are involved in their child’s schooling increase the child’s motivation for school. Motivated students are more likely to enjoy learning, participate in class, develop confidences in themselves and achieve!
Please make sure that your child completes and returns his/her homework DAILY. It is important to set routines, set aside time each day to discuss what your child did in school and for completion of homework. Homework will be given every day so please make sure your child completes and returns his/her homework packet daily. In the homework packet, you will find announcements, assignments and daily behavior report. In our building, we use a daily behavior chart with four colors- green, yellow, orange and red. When sending money to school, please put it in an envelope and label it with your child’s name. Your child should wear sneakers everyday…for Gym as well as outdoor recess.
Our classroom also has teacher assistants that the children work with each day. Mrs. Sheifla and Ms. Ferguson work with the children in small groups, help with homework and accompany the children to lunch and computer lab.
It is very important to check your child’s backpack and red folder each day when your child arrives home from school. Your child is very proud to show you what he/she has done each day and often times, there are notes for you to read or permission slips for you to sign.
We are thrilled to be working with your Kindergartner this year! Thank you in advance for your support and cooperation. We are sure this year will prove to be a very special one!
Sincerely,
Mrs. McMillen & Mrs. Prescott- Room 124
