Putting children and families first to ensure high academic achievement for all
    • Dear Buffalo Public Schools Community,

The safety of our students, faculty, staff, and families is our most important priority. We are taking every measure to keep our community safe.

We want you to know we have heard your heartfelt concerns regarding safety in our schools. We have evaluated multiple data points and know of the need to increase security
measures in our buildings. There are multiple sources of fear and anxiety in our community. The increase in COVID-19 infection rates, the overwhelming trauma-inducing
social media activity, the recent tragic racially motivated mass murder on Jefferson Avenue and the senseless murder of 19 children and two teachers, who were killed in a school shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas. Undoubtedly, all these events are causing stress in our schools. As a result, we are restricting access to all district buildings.

We encourage you to conduct all your meetings via an online platform such as Zoom, Webex or Teams versus engaging in a physical meeting inside the school building. Should your request for an in-school meeting be granted, please know you may be required to undergo the same wanding and/or search process our students experience upon entry into our schools.

Please note that all end-of-the-year ceremonies will commence as usual with additional
      security measures.

      Best regards,

      Dr. Tonja M. Williams,
      Interim Superintendent of Schools
