Classroom News - Grade 3

  •     Parents,

The third graders will be learning to read music by playing the recorder.  Each child should have a recorder to play for class and take home to practice. Practice is an important part of the learning process.

I will be ordering recorders from the Peripole Company.  These recorders are well made and will take quite a beating while still maintaining a good sound. These recorders will be used for the next two or three years.

The cost of the recorders is $5.00.  I ask that the students bring their money in an envelope with his/her name, grade, room number and classroom teacher's name on it.

I will place the order on October 1, 2008 and expect it to be less than 3 weeks for them to arrive.

Your child will also need a folder with pockets so that he/she has a place to keep the music that I will be handing out for practice.  The music that I will print out will have a fingering chart to help with learning the music.

The children will be told to keep the recorder in their back packs. If the recorder is placed back in the backpack after each practice, it will be in school for each class.  Please help your child keep the recorder out of the hands of younger children and pets.

I am looking forward to teaching your child how to play the recorder.  If you have any questions please give me a call at the school (816-4809).  I will return your call right after school.
