Welcome to New York State Common Core Algebra 1! In this course, students will be able to use and apply their prior knowledge of pre-Algebra towards new and challenging topics in Common Core. Each student needs a strong pre-Algebra base in order to be successful in this class. I have been teaching in the district for 12 years. I have learned that the math curriculum is always changing and can be challenging to most students. Attendance is key as well as homework completion in order to be successful in any class. The more you hear it, the more you remember and become familiar with it. Come with an open mind and an eagerness to learn!!
My goal for every student is to
- have a strong math knowledge in Algebra by the end of the year
- pass the Algebra 1 Common Core Regents exam in June
- make connections to Algebra and the real world
