The 2014-2015 school year is off to a great start! Our students are getting right into routine in preparation for a successful school year. This school year is a challenging year for our fourth graders as they have several state standardized tests that lie ahead of them. Our students are responsible for completing the New York State Common Core English Language Arts Assessment, The Common Core Math Assessment, as well as our New York State Science Assessment. These assessments will require students to complete mathematical tasks, scientific experiments, written expression, and address comprehension. We are already rigorously preparing for these challenging tasks that lie ahead. We appreciate your constant support and guidance at home as we encourage you to check homework, read with your child at least 30 minutes every night, and practice oral questioning of passages. If you need further support and guidance with any of the math, student activities, or even interactive games visit www.engageny.org. Once you arrive on the site utilize the parents and families tab on the upper left corner of the menu bar. From there it will direct you to three different options which will offer videos, standards, computer activities, and even a parent library. Please check your child’s take home folder and planner nightly as we often send communications and school notices home through this method. We have field trips and celebrations on our schedules for the upcoming holiday seasons. We look forward to telling you all about these trips in the near future!
