Scholarship Opportunities

  •

Scholarships: Unlike student loans, scholarships do not have to be repaid. Generally, scholarships are reserved and/or available for students with special qualifications, such as academic, athletic or artistic talent, for students who are interested in particular fields of study, who are members of underrepresented groups, who live in certain areas of the country or who demonstrate financial need.

Scholarships typically fall into two categories:
    • Merit-based aid: are scholarships that are awarded to a student by either a community or local organization or a college, without regard for financial need.
    • Need-based aid: financial aid is awarded to a student based on financial need.

    Nicholas Patterson Scholarship

The academic scholarships provided by the Nicholas Patterson Perpetual Fund were established under the Last Will and Testament of the late Nicholas D. Patterson.  Mr. Patterson, who lived to the age of 103, was a self-educated man, who during the course of his lifetime developed an admiration as well as an appreciation for those who studied hard and worked to try and achieve their goals through education and citizenship. The Patterson Fund scholarships are not intended to pay a student's entire tuition but to help lessen their financial burden. The scholarships are for Erie county residents. Recipients do not have to matriculate in schools in Erie County.

The Patterson Fund has $2000 scholarships that can be used for any education related expenses!  We look at more than just grades when evaluating applications!
