Positive Behavior Interventions Supports (PBIS)
What is PBIS?
"Research is demonstrating that schools make greater academic gains when they simultaneously build a school-wide positive social-culture. PBIS organizes adults and students to create a social culture in schools that will encourage positive behavior interactions, while discouraging problem behaviors. This social-culture will lead to a safer environment where students achieve academically and build positive relationships with each other and with adults."
D'Youville Porter Campus School #3 is currently in the beginning phases of implementing the Positive Behavior Interventions Supports Program. Since academic achievement in school is strongly related to student behavior, this program promotes positive behaviors in many ways.
PBIS Universal Team
Our PBIS Team meets every other C Day in the SST Room at 8:30am. Together we brainstorm ways to teach, promote, and reward positive behavior at School #3!
Shoping Cart Drive
The PBIS Team is now accepting gently used items from both families and staff of School #3. These items will be used as rewards for positive behavior. Students can also "purchase" these items with Power Point Tickets that they earn when they are "caught being good" and demonstrate positive behavior and attitudes. Please send items to the SST Room!
In order to monitor student behaviors, data is collected and entered into the SWIS system. This data comes from the District Discipline Referral Forms completed by staff when a student misbehavior occurs. It is important that these forms are completed accurately. Please click on the file below for specific instructions on how to complete the District Discipline Referral Form.
