Read Aloud and Writing Assignment at School #17

Below you will find an iMovie of the narrated story, Salt in His Shoes, Michael Jordan in Pursuit of a Dream, written by Delores and Roslyn Jordan.

Students in Ms. Carrow's Reading groups (K through 4) will respond to the following writing prompt after listening to the story two times. 

Writing Response:

What made Michael the six-foot-six-inch tall basketball superstar he is today? Use at least two details to support your answer.

K and 1

• Use a combination of drawing, dictating and writing to state what made Michael the six-foot-six-inch tall basketball superstar he is today.

 Grade 2

• Use a combination of drawing and writing to explain what made Michael the six-foot-six-inch tall basketball superstar he is today. 
  • The first sentence should restate the question and answer the question. (Hint: take away the question word - What)
  • The second and third sentence should provide examples or details from the story that helped you come to that decision. 
  • Your student may draw a picture to go along with his or her response 

Grades 3 & 4

• Provide a 2 Point Rubric Response to explain what made Michael the six-foot-six-inch tall basketball superstar he is today.  (Answer, prove it, prove it)
