Classroom News

    Hello Pre-K families!

Welcome to Pre-K! We are so excited to see such a wonderful new group of life-long learners to enter our school! The teachers and assistants are busy this month transitioning your child to their new school setting by establishing routines, procedures, and developing positive, valuable relationships with your child.

With this in mind, setting routines at home for bedtime, homework, and getting ready in the morning help us start the school year in a positive way. Please make sure your child arrives on time every day in uniform for school. Attendance is very crucial in getting your child to meet the NYS Common Core learning standards. When they are absent, learning is missed. If they do miss school, please send a written excuse for every absence.

School supplies, a blanket for rest time, and a change of clothes are needed at school as soon as possible. Also, please make sure your child brings a backpack to school daily, along with their take-home folder, which must be checked and emptied nightly. Sneakers and a jacket, or sweatshirt are necessary for going outside to the playground.

Please work with you child at home in developing their fine-motor skills by teaching them how to zip, snap, and button their clothes and jackets. They will need to be able to dress and undress themselves for arrival, dismissal, and take care of themselves in the lavatory without assistance. They should also know how to put on shoes by themselves.

Be sure to check out the Big Day for Pre-K parent page for extra reading activities to work on at home, and on-line stories to view, Also, the Building Blocks math page for reinforcement of concepts presented, and our teacher web pages for important dates and information.  Also,  for safety reasons, please keep us informed at all times of any address, phone number, custody, or bussing changes.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us during school hours.

We look forward to a successful, productive, engaging & exciting school year!
