Community Service Project: Pasta for Pennies
As our Community Service Project, our Fifth Grade Honors Class is organizing a Pasta for Pennies Program here at Futures Academy. Pasta for Pennies, sponsored by Olive Garden, is all about making change that makes a huge difference in the lives of blood cancer patients. Olive Garden's Pasta for Pennies is a service learning, character education and philanthropy program that gives students a unique experience making a difference through teamwork—working together to aid thousands of children and adults in the fight against blood cancers like leukemia.
How it Works: Students collect spare change during the month of March. The change can come from friends or relatives or underneath the couch cushions. What's important is that the change is collected! All money collected goes directly to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The homeroom that collects the most money in donations wins a Pasta Party from Olive Garden!
Congratulations on a great job with Pasta for Pennies! We are excited to announce that the grand total raised by our school this year is $1,188.57! You all can feel very proud of yourselves, because with every penny, nickel, dime, quarter, or dollar you donated, you helped save lives of cancer patients!
