    During our reading block, students will be reading both fiction and nonfiction texts. We discuss many skills and strategies that will help them comprehend what they are reading. 

    Fiction texts:
    -Narrative elements (character, setting, plot)
    -Problem and Solution
    -Figurative language
    -Beginning, Middle, End
    -Compare and Contrast

    Nonfiction texts:
    -Cause and Effect
    -Sequence of Events
    -Compare and Contrast
    -Domain-specific vocabulary

    Think Central is the website for our reading program, Journeys. Your student can access the reading textbook, among other supports. It requires your student to input a user name and password, which is the same way they log into the computers at our school.
