Family board games are also a great way to help a child at any age with math skills and life skills.  Younger children learn the importance of taking turns and working polietly with others.  Older kids learn about being patient and seeing things through to the end (since many games the person in last place can end up winning at the end).  They also learn about planning ahead and creating strategies.
