Doors will be unlocked beginning at 9:00 am. Upon arrival, students should pick up breakfast and report immediately to the classroom. Breakfast ends at 9:30 and students arriving after this time will be marked tardy.
Everyone will have a chance to celebrate their birthday with classmates. Store purchased treats may be sent in or dropped off at the office. Birthday celebrations will take place at the end of the school day.
Communication between school and home is crucial. Be sure to keep an updated phone number and address on file with the school office. If you have any changes, please send a note with your child immediately. Additional questions and concerns may also be sent in a note with your child, by calling the school, or by contacting me through ClassDojo or at my school email.
This is a teacher tool that helps to build students' learning habits and boost classroom engagement. It also allows me to track student behavior and learning skills throughout the day. Finally, it is a way for families to stay connected throughout the day. Be on the lookout for additional information in your child's homework folder.
Dismissal begins at ____. Walkers are dismissed to the gymnasium at this time. Students riding the bus home will be walked out as a class beginning at ____. Please send in a note if your child is to go home a different way than his/her normal routine.

Our focus is for all students to become independent readers by the end of 3rd grade! In order to accomplish this goal, all students should practice reading at home for a minimum of 15 minutes each day.
Students receive grades of 65-100 on their report cards. Classwork and tests will receive a score out of 100%. A grade of 70% or more is considered Passing
Homework folders should travel between school and home in a backpack most Monday and returned on Friday. The folder will include the third grade words packet, reading logs, and graded classwork/ graded tests. Students are expected to review the word packet every evening to build their oral reading fluency.
The question of when to keep your child home from school is often a difficult one, especially when decisions must be made first thing in the morning. It is important, however, to keep your child home if he/she is ill. This helps to make them more comfortable and prevents others from becoming ill.

Students in our classroom are encouraged and expected to show kindness and use kind words. Bothering others, bullying or using unkind/inappropriate language will not be permitted.

Medications cannot be sent into school without a note from the doctor and they must be administered by the school nurse.

Report cards are issued every 10 weeks (4 report cards total). These reports reflect the progress your child has made towards 2nd grade expected outcomes. Report cards are sent in the mail. Be sure the office has an up to date address on record.
If your child arrives to school after the 9:30 bell, they will be marked tardy, and will need to go to the office for a late pass before going to his/her classroom. Also, please be sure to send a note.
Shirts: Only solid white or solid gray with a collar (polo or turtleneck). Long and short sleeves are acceptable. Tank tops and spaghetti straps are not acceptable.
Sweaters: Only solid white, solid gray, or solid black. Sweatshirts and hoodies are not acceptable.
Bottoms: Only solid black (shorts, skorts, skirts, and jumpers must be knee length)
We love volunteers in our classroom! Moms, dads, grandparents and other adults who are close to your child are welcome to join us on field trips and during holiday celebrations.
