Speech Therapy

  • The Speech and Language program at School 84 provides services to communicatively challenged children who need to improve speaking, listening, reading, writing, thinking, and memory skills to achieve academic and social success in a school environment.

This program also includes the development of assistive technology and augmentative communication systems to increase expressive communication skills.  Here at School #84 Speech and Language Services are provided according to the Habilitation and Treatment Model.  Within this model, speech language pathologists go into classrooms and focus on expanding the student's language skills within the context of the class environment.  This is to promote generalization and functional use of communication skills.  For those students requiring individual speech sessions, services are also provided in the therapy room.
