ABOUT ME

When I am not in front of a computer, my time is spent with my family. My daughter, Matilyn, is 8 years old, and she is tons of fun! We love nature and experiencing the beautiful four seasons in Buffalo. I enjoy hiking and outdoor activities. I have a serious gardening habit, enjoy all things Lake Erie & Chautauqua Lake, and am a die-hard member of the Bills Mafia... GO BILLS!

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

I began my teaching career at the age of 17, when I became a Water Safety Instructor and taught swim lessons to babies, toddlers, and school-aged children. I was a Teacher Assistant for many college and graduate courses, and ultimately received my NY State Teacher Certification in Earth Science and General Sciences. In 2002, I was hired by the Buffalo Public Schools where I taught Regents Earth Science, E.S. Lab, Living Environment Lab, and Health at Burgard High School.

In September of 2008, I joined the Instructional Technology Department. From 2008-2010, I was the Technology Integration Specialist assigned to Harriet Ross Tubman Elementary, #31. From 2010-2012, I was the Instructional Technology Coach assigned to the International School, #45. From 2012-2017, I was a district-based Instructional Technology Coach working with all Buffalo schools, K-12.

My focus over the years has been on web development and graphic design. I enjoyed assisting my assigned buildings and editing their school webpages. I also taught many professional development courses to teachers on teacher webpage editing. Since 2017, I have served as the District Webmaster for BPS.

TECHNOLOGY

My experience with technology began at an early age. When I was 5 years old, my Dad programmed Othello on a Texas Instrument using a cassette player for a 'hard drive'. My earliest memories are playing on that old machine :) The first desktop computer in my home was the Apple IIe circa 1984. Since that time, my passion for technology has blossomed. I have knowledge of both PC and Mac platforms, html and Flash. My interests include technology to support the learning environment, the utilization of the Internet for everyday applications, and technology freedom concepts.
