My Philosophy

  •      I believe it is important for people to have many ways to express themselves and to interact with others.  The Visual Arts is an outlet for personal expression, which is something our young people desperately need.  I try to plan lessons that are relevant to students' lives to keep them interested and focused.  Since we at Waterfront also strive to integrate the arts with other areas of the curriculum, some lessons are piggybacked onto what is going on in your child's regular classroom.  When you look at other cultures' histories, generally you are looking at art and artifacts that provide a kind of visual history of that culture.  So, in a real way, a culture's arts are a visual record of its history.  Through examination of the arts and artifacts of a culture, we can see the differences and parallels between that culture and our own.
