Welcome Letter

  • Dear Parents,

Welcome! I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself.  My name is Elizabeth White and I am thrilled to have your child in my class this year! In our room we will also have one full time assistant.  I look forward to getting to know your child and your family! This is sure to be a fantastic school year filled with fun and lots of LEARNING! As you will find out (hopefully), I am an organized teacher that tries my best to keep a nice flow and routine in the classroom.

Our year will be filled with stories, writing and recognition of capital and lower case letters, phonics, shapes, color and number recognition, patterns and sequencing, problem solving, development of fine motor skills and many other activities and memories.  I believe that by all of us working together we can make this a very successful year. I consider it of prime importance that you be an active part of your child's education.

Your child will have their own cubby, please make sure that all your child’s belongings fit into their cubby.  Also, please consider providing an extra set of clothes to keep in case of an accident or spill and a resting mat.  (These items along with a few others can be found on the supply list).

You are welcome to phone, email (ewhite@buffaloschools.org), place a note in your child's take home folder, or visit the school any time that you have a question concerning your child's progress. I will conduct assessments in the beginning of the year, middle of the year and end of the year so that both you and I can keep track of your child’s progress.  This will also give you a chance to see what skills your child could benefit from working on at home as well as in school.  I will also be sending home homework starting in October.  Homework will be sent home on Fridays and due back the following Monday.

If you have expertise in a specific field, an unusual hobby, or have a different culture that you would like to share, please let us know. I would be happy to visit with you about the possibility of you sharing with our class.

I consider it a great privilege and responsibility to be your child's teacher this year, and look forward to meeting each of you.

    Elizabeth White
