WNY Americorps. Some seniors may not wish to pursue higher education immediately upon graduation. Americorps has positions for young people aged 17 - 25 who are availble weekdays from 7:30 to 3:30, willing to work 1700 hours in a 12 month period. Education award of $4725 upon completion of term. GED/Pre-Collegiate classses available. Bi-weekly living stipend of $438.46. Members may apply for health care insurance and child care allowance. Internship placement at local non-profit agencies. Applications for the Buffalo Employment and Training Center and Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program will be available in guidance or on line. You may click on the links below to download an application. Please remember that applications are NOT to be returned to guidance but rather the office of the program that you are applying to. All 4 parts of the application below must be completed and submitted!!!!
Working paper applications are also available in guidance or by clicking on the link under the useful forms tab. Applications may be returned to your school counselor any school day between the hours of 7:50 am and 2:30 pm. Processing takes 2 to 3 days. Please be sure to attach an updated physical form from your doctor saying that you are permitted to work. Physicals cannot be more than 1 year old and must specifically say that you are eligible for employment. According to BPS guidelines, students who have 10 or more unexcused absences for the first semester and more than 15 unexcused absences for the second semester may be denied working papers. Students who do not meet attendance criteria may reapply after completing two weeks of PERFECT ATTENDANCE. Please see your counselor with any questions. No exceptions will be made.
