Community Tutoring/Mentoring Programs

  • Buffalo Public Schools/New York State Approved Supplemental Education Service Providers - BAVPA students in Grades 5-8 are eligible to attend these programs.  See attachment below for printout of providers and their locations.


    GLORIA J. PARKS COMMUNITY CENTER- 4-H After School Program Monday - Friday 2:30pm - 6:00pm 3243 Main Street Buffalo, NY 14214 832-1010 ext 226. Open to students in grades 1 - 8 from any Buffalo public, charter, private or parochial school. Students must complete an application to become a member of the center. Students who have bus transportation can select Gloria Parks as a drop off or their after school trip.  Half day and full day care is available when school is not in session for a small additional fee. Provides:  homework assistance, tutoring, arts, science mentoring, gym and free play, chess instruction, litercay volunteers, and academic enrichment in a safe caring environment.


    UPWARD BOUND: Eighth graders who want to apply for next year:  We have learned that there will be only 14 slots for students for next fall, and they are now taking applications.  Please pick up your application in Guidance & return it quickly.


    Academic Talent Search:  After school at Canisius.

    Liberty Partnership Program at the University at Buffalo South Campus- Application is available in guidance or by downloading attached PDf file. Please return your completed application to your school counselor.
