    Policies and Procedures

    1. CLASSROOM BEHAVIOR

    At the change of class period proceed directly to the locker room. Change into appropriate PE attire. Students should be in the locker room before the bell rings. Once changed head directly to the gym for attendance. Do not touch any equipment in the gym area. No horseplay. Remain on your number throughout attendance. At the end of your class you will be released back into the locker room. You will change back into your street clothes and remain in the locker room until the bell rings.

    1. PROPER ATTIRE

    Sneakers, shorts/sweatpants, and t-shirt are required for all classes. Students must change their entire outfit before and after class. Jewelry, chains, bracelets, rings, hats, and sunglasses are not to be worn during activity. Remove everything from your pockets. Valuables are not to be brought into the locker room area; leave them at home or in your school locker. Anything you leave in the locker room should be secured in a locker with a lock. You are responsible for providing your own lock for each class. Instructors are not responsible for items left in the gym or in the locker room. Team uniforms, pajama pants and jeans are not to be worn for class.

    1. NO FOOD OR DRINKS IS ALLOWED IN THE GYM/LOCKER ROOM AREA

    Under no circumstances will food or drink be allowed in the gym area or locker room. If food or drink is brought to class you will be asked to throw it out. Items may not be purchased from the vending machine during class.

    1. UNPREPARED STUDENTS

    If a student is unprepared for class he/she will sit on the floor against the wall for the entire class period. All personal materials including, academic materials, purses, bags, cell phones must be left in the locker room. By being unprepared you lose 10 points for the day.

    1. EXCUSED ABSENCE

    If you are hurt or sick and can’t participate in  physical education, a note from a medical doctor is required. For every class that you miss an assignment is due. Assignments and instructions can be found of the BAVPA Physical Education and Health Website. Printed assignment sheets will be available when you are in the ILC room. You can access this site through the teacher page section of the BAVPA web page or by going directly to the website https://www.buffaloschools.org/Page/64040 . Assignments are due when you are medically cleared to return to class or 2 weeks before the end of the marking period if you are out on a long term medical. If you have a minor injury or illness, an excuse from a parent/guardian is necessary. You are only allowed two parent/guardian notes per marking period.

    1. SUSPENSION/ ILC

    If you miss Physical Education due to being suspended from school or being placed in ILC you are required to submit an assignment for each class that you miss. Assignments and instructions can be found of the BAVPA Physical Education and Health Website. You can access this site through the teacher page section of the BAVPA web page or by going directly to the website https://www.buffaloschools.org/Page/64040 . Assignments are due when you return to class or 2 weeks before the end of the marking period if you are out on a long term suspension.

    1. BATHROOM

    Students need to use the bathroom prior to or after class. If you have an emergency, you must ask your instructor for permission and obtain a pass.

    1. EXPECTATIONS

    Students should actively participate in each class. At all times there will be an atmosphere of mutual respect. If a student is a hazard to him/her self, others or the days lesson he/she will be removed from the class and instructed to sit in the bleachers. If this disruptive behavior continues, he/she will be removed from class until the behavior improves.

    1. GRADING POLICY

    Prepared and active participants will be given credit for physical education class. Each Class is worth 10 points. Unprepared and/or non-participants will receive zero credit. Each unprepared/non-participant will receive 0/10 points for the day. Assessments will be given as well averaged into your quarterly grade.  If you are late getting to the locker room or late to roll call you will receive an after school detention.

    1. CLASS MAKE UPS

    If you are absent from class for ANY REASON you MUST make up the missed class or you will receive a 0 for the day. If you would like to receive credit for a class that you were unprepared for you may make these classes up as well. Make ups will take place Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7:10-7:50. You must be in the building by 7:10 in order to take part in the make up. If you arrive late you will not be permitted to enter. The make up must be done with in one week of the missed class. If you do not make up a missed class you will receive a 0 as that days grade.
