Printmaking - Syllabus

Course Goals:
The goal of this course is to introduce a wide-range of printmaking experiences, aesthetics of the art form and the history of its development. You will work with a variety of materials, tools and techniques. You will learn the unique characteristics of art form and how to use the potentials and limitations of the materials to express your ideas. You will learn to make connection with the history of the art form and your own ideas by writing, discussing, creating and evaluating.

Course Grading
Your grade will be based on the following:
A. Daily class participation 30%
B. Artwork/Projects 50%
C. Quizzes/Tests/Exams 10%
D. Homework/Sketchbook 10%
Class Participation includes:
Using class time to work on class projects
Positive active involvement in class discussions and critiques
Journaling, poetry, in-class worksheets and group activities
Cleaning-up at the end of each class
Coming to class with proper supplies and homework
Attending art shows**
**Attendance to the Senior Show is mandatory.
The 2011 Senior Show is Thursday, June 9, 2011 6:00-7:00 pm
Required Supplies:
Sketchbook (no smaller than 8 x 11)
Drawing Pencils (4H, 2H, HB, 2B, 4B, 6B)
A black sharpie or fine-tip marker
A folder with pockets
Smock or old shirt (or use the classroom aprons)
You are required to bring these supplies with you to class every day. If you are unable to get any of these supplies please see me by the end of the first week.
Class Expectations:
Complete all class and homework assignments on time
Be on-time to class ready to participate
Use class time wisely
Be respectful of art materials, use them properly and clean up after yourself
Work safely in the studio
Stay seated at all times unless instructed otherwise
Participate in class room activities and discussions
Respect all students, adults and yourself
