    Two projects
    a) Create a Logo for the department (Media Communications or Communication Arts)
    use the abbreviation and the full name of the department.
    b) Create a poster for the Department 
    using Photoshop create a 5' X 5' poster design that represents our Communication Arts department. The best poster will be represented in the Hallway/Staircase.

    5. Video Exercise 2: Continuity
    Produce a seamless 45 second action sequence using 4 different camera angles.
    1. choreograph and block actor/s movement in a scene
    2. repeat the action exactly the same way and film from 4 different camera angles.
    3. edit the sequence using segments from all 4 camera angles to create a seamless seq.

    {All production from 1st marking period must be completed! You have received credit for these and they must be completed. 
    Extra Credit will be given for Independent videos, Morning show, School events, Community event, and other productions.}

    1. Major Production: NARRATIVE FILM - Mandatory 60%
    You must produce a Narrative style film between 5 and 8 minutes in length.
    The film must include a screenplay with dialogue, and multiple scenes (3 minimum) 
    Pre-Production: 
    a- Story & Plot, Production Design, Treatment, Structure & Time-line, description of characters &     settings, list of scenes, sequences, overall style of the film. This is a multi level assignment. You                must include ALL of the above requirements.
    Due Monday December 5- (10% grade)  500 Words Total.
    b- Screenplay - To reflect 5-8 minutes of screen time. Must be formatted as a screenplay.

    Options include photography, Web Design, Creative Writing/Screenplay, Animation, Research, Presentations, Audio and Music, Social Media Campaigns, etc....

    Successfully complete the Narrative films you began last Marking Period. Videos must be 5 minutes minimum and completely finished
    sound track, post-production, Credits...
    Due - Feb. 17th (this project will be worth 15 % of your M.P. Grade)
    Alternative Options for this assignment is to tape your 2 min. Dinner Conversations or an approved independent video or an Independent Video.


    2. Exercise 1:  Metric Editing: Experimental Film
    Produce a 60 second video based on the concept of Metric Editing (Editing decisions, shot duration, time-line are All BASED ON A MATHEMATICAL FORMULA)
    1. Establish a rhythm for shot duration, overall  film &  creative time/metric concept
    2. Write a time-line storyboard or metric formula for a 1 min. film. Include content as well as editing strategy. HAND IN Due Monday Feb 6

    Must be original footage or photography, with limited repetition of same image 
    Must include a sound track. No credit given for canned music track. Extra credit for edited audio track.
    Video Due Feb. 17 (this project is worth 15 % of your M.P. Grade)
    Grades based on Creativity, successfully meeting project requirements, Production value, effort.



    3. Video Production PSA: Mandatory
    Choice 1) Scholarship Competition: 1st place- $2000, 2nd $1000, 3rd $500

    • -How can we help raise awareness about privacy and online security in the digital age?
    • -How can we help to raise awareness about Traumatic Brain Injuries and prevention?

    6. Video Exercise 2: In-Camera Edit
    A-choose one subject category such as nature, architecture, store-fronts, neighborhood, playground, cemetery, etc...The subject does not matter as long as you remain within that theme. 
    B- Shoot a 90 second video using the following criteria:
    - A minimum of 10 shots
    - Must include at least 1 full, medium, close-up, and extreme close-up shot.
    - Your video must be edited IN-CAMERA this means the shots must be filmed in the order,
      length, composition, and style of your final product. There is no post-production editing. You  must therefore plan accordingly.

    Students are to produce a video dealing with critical environmental issues. Possible topics can include, but not limited to: Pollution, Extinction, Deforestation, Habitat Loss, Animal Testing, Inhumane treatment of Animals, Global Warming, Over Population, Negative Environmental changes, Ozone Depletion, Dead Zones in Oceans, Overfishing, Loss of Bio-Diversity, etc.......The video can be any genre including documentary, experimental, poetic, personal statement, narrative, video installation, performance piece, inter-disciplinary, etc....
    2. Independent Video Projects: Any genre

    3. Experimental Film Project:
    Produce an experimental video based on the following criteria
    a) No narrative or story elements b) Images are abstract and mostly un-representational or unrecognizable. c) use of camera and post production effects to manipulate the image. d) structure the film based on elements such as color, tone, rhythm, mood, etc. e) creative manipulation of sound track such as loops, reverse, multiple track overlays.due 3/18
