Course Description:
This is a sophomore level production and video/media theory course aimed at providing students with the opportunity to explore a variety of production genres and technical knowledge associated with areas of television production, film making, journalism, animation, and media study. Students will be assigned a variety of video production projects including Independent Videos, Group Narrative Film,
Video Installation, Major Research Project, BAVPA Morning Show, Community Productions, Screen-Plays and other writing projects, Public Service Announcements, Documentaries, Animation, Experimental Films, Journalism and so on. Students will also receive routine production exercises to fine-tune their skills in cinematography, editing, lighting, sound, production design, and animation. Students will also be required to develop writing skills in multiple areas such as screen writing, critical reviews, production proposals, technical, and creative writing. The objective of the course is to create meaningful, relevant, significant production work that is designed for the individual student while providing enough diversity to develop skills, which are consistent with industry standards. Students will be responsible for production and written projects. Each worth 50% of their grade.
Grading Policy based on the following elements:
- Two Major Projects per Marking Period
- Weekly assessment of progress made on each project
- Final assessment of end product for each project
- Written assignments
- Exams

Course Description:
This is a senior level production course aimed at providing students with the opportunity to explore specific production genres and areas of interest of media. Students will choose five major production projects to work on each marking period. Some production will be required but the majority can be custom made for each student. Students will choose from a master list of project opportunities including but not limited to : Independent Video Production, Group Narrative Film,
Video Installation, Major Research Project, BAVPA Morning Show, Community Productions, Screen-Plays and other writing projects, Public Service Announcements, Documentaries, Animation, Experimental Films, Journalism and so on. For each project, the student and teacher will mutually agree upon a time schedule, production criteria, weekly assessment procedures, production expectations and final product.. The objective of the course is to create meaningful, relevant, significant production work that is designed for the individual student while providing enough diversity to develop skills which are consistant with industry standards. Students will also take a national industry exam during the 4th marking period. This is called the NOCTI Exam.
