The John Henry Nemwan Chapter of the National Honor Society is a select group of juniors and seniors who are committed to the betterment of South Park High School. Members of the NHS possess many qualities such as leadership, service, character, and scholarship, as well as pride in our school. We are involved in many activities that bring about awareness to our fellow students.

Students were able to give back to the community by participating in the Caps for Kids fundraiser, where they gave a dollar and in turn were allowed to wear a hat for the day. The money went to help children with cancer. We also participated in a toy drive for the Toys for Tots organization- to get toys and other items for needy local families. In December of 2009, South Park held its annual Blood Drive, which was incredibly successful; fifty-nine students donated blood to the American Red Cross. In addition, the NHS sponsored Hoops for Hearts in the spring time, an event that raises money for the American Heart Association.

In March of 2008, 33 students attended a trip to Boston, Massachusetts. We spent five days sightseeing around the Boston area. We visited the New England Aquarium, the Science Center, the freedom trail, Plymouth Rock and various other places in Salem, Massachusetts and in southern Maine.

In March of 2009 20 students attended a trip to New York City, New York. We visited Central Park, Times Square, the MET, the Statue Of Liberty, and the Museum Of Modern Art.

In April of 2010 35 students attended a trip to Chicago, Illinois.

The NHS has many activities throughout the school year such as a holiday party in December, a picnic in June, and our Induction in May. And this coming year we are planning on holding a group trip to New York City.
