• The Sparks enter tonight's the game with an excellent defense led by MLB Ellijah Winston(2). They've allowed only 39 points in their last 4 games. In that same span the offense has scored 102 points, including blowout wins against West Seneca West and Riverside. That success has been largely due to their ability to run the ball. Shakur Harris(3) is sure to rip off big gains against any defense.

Needing a win to enter the playoffs, the Sparks take on the Iroquois Chiefs, a team much like our own, built on solid defense and a strong running game led by Brandon Yax(20).

The teams traded field position during the first two quarters when the Chiefs pushed our offense backwards and ended up with great field position. The defense kept them out of the end zone, holding Iroquios to a short field goal.

The second half would have to be mistake free in order to win this game. Unfortunately, it wasn't. Poorly timed penalties, a bad snap and a lost fumble all put stress on the South Park defense, but they did not break and managed to keep Iroquios off the board.

Late in the 4th quarter the Sparks drove the ball to the Iroquois red zone. The sure footed Nick Schaefer could surely tie the game with a field goal from here. Nick drops back to pass and sees DeVonte Fountain(4) cutting across the field. Under pressure, Nick hurls the ball to the 4 yard line where it is intercepted and returned for a touchdown.

Any hope of reaching the playoffs begins to diminish.

After the game coach Delaney tells the team that Riverside needed to beat McKinley in order for the the Sparks to make it into the playoffs.

    McKinley 48, Riverside 12.
