Learning mathematical vobaulary is essential to doing well in mathematics and on standardized tests. Students who score poorly on assessments often do so because they have difficulty reading and understanding the problems they are presented. Mathematical vocabulary and comprehension skills are needed by students in order to read and interpret problems successfully.
As students develop mathematics language, they learn how to communicate and share concepts and ideas with others. Mathematical vocabulary knowledge provides students with a foundation in mathematics they can apply and build on inside and outside of the classroom.
