Database Resources

  • The following databases will assist students conducting research and completing assignments.

     

    Buffalo Public Schools Gale Databases

    The home page for the Gale database suite.  The databases are arranged by subject area and contain articles from academic and professional journals, newspapers, and magazines.  Users can filter their searches for full-text and peer-reviewed sources.

     

    Britannica School

    Digital version of the classic encyclopedia aimed at a school audience.  Articles, reference material, and background information on thousands of topics.  Entries are presented at three levels: elementary, middle, and high school.

     

    NOVEL NY Education Resources

    The New York Online Virtual Electronic Library (NOVEL NY) contains access to a wide variety of databases with articles from books, magazines, newspapers, and reference sources.  Databases from Gale at the elementary, middle, and high school level are included that will be useful for students.  Peer-reviewed academic journal articles through Educator's Reference Complete and Academic One File will be useful for current and aspiring educators.

     

    Opposing Viewpoints

    Gales' Opposing Viewpoints enables users to browse hundreds of issues with varying viewpoints.  Summaries of issues are provided; users may access primary source documents, academic journals, news, and reference sources published covering varying viewpoints on an issue.
