10 students from School 61 were selected to participate in a free Summer Ballet Workshop at Neglia Ballet Studio located at 2495 Main St, Ste 600 (in the Tri-Main Building). This week-long workshop introduced students to the basic elements of dance and ballet, as well as basic concepts in health and wellness, body awareness and working in small groups.

Students performed a Demonstration Class at The Buffalo Summer Youth Arts Celebration on August 25, 2017. All the students who participated were given Certificates of Completion and awarded scholarships from Neglia Ballet Studio to continue their studies during the school year. Students will have an opportunity to audition and perform in Baba Yaga at Shea’s Performing Art Center, October 13-14, 2017. School 61 students in grades 1-4 will be attending this ballet professional performance.

The 3rd grade students at School 61 have been invited to Neglia Ballet Studio to experience a five-session ballet workshop during the 2017-18 school year. Students will participate in a one hour Intro to Dance/Ballet class. They will study movement, body connections, health and wellness and various dance concepts. Participating students wil perform a demonstration for parents and families at the school in June.
