• This unit is about research. Some of the resources do require that you are able to access the Internet. If you are unable to, please either skip those lessons or allow students to research using other books you might have available. Each lesson starts with a goal slide to show you what the students are working on for that lesson.

     

    • Lesson 1-2: Complete animal research fact sheet using the website provided.

    • Lesson 3: Think about board games that you’ve played and some themes for board games.

    • Lesson 4-5: Complete Wonder Detective Research Project for a topic that you would like to make a board game about.

    • Lesson 6-8: Play some online board games or play some board games at home. Discuss what you like and dislike about each game.

    • Lesson 9: Discuss what you need to know in order to play a game. Brainstorm some different ways to play games.

    • Lesson 10: Decide the type of game you will make, the theme, possible names, and number of players. Fill in on the project packet.

    • Lesson 11: Decide how players win, template for the game board, and what movers will look like.

    • Lesson 12: Write the rules for your game.

    • Lesson 13-15: Complete the board design, game movers, and play test the game.
